Temperance, MI Neighborhood Guide

Temperance is one village out of three that make up Bedford Township in Monroe County, Michigan. As of the 2000 census, Temperance’s population was 7,757 and the village’s logo come from the newly added clock tower to the downtown area. Temperance is located in southeastern Michigan about seven miles from Toledo and is nearby to the communities of Lambertville and Luna Pier both in Michigan and Ottawa Hills, Sylvania, Oregon and Rossford all in Ohio.

Parks & Recreation

Vienna Park

Vienna Park is managed by Monroe County and offers a strong variety in both distance and terrain. All of the fairways are well defined by years of use and the entire course has a nice consistent level of variety, challenging but not impossible.

Carr Park

Carr Park was originally deeded to the Upton Carr family by President Andrew Jackson in the 1830's. It subsequently was sold by the Carr Family to the Temperance Rotary Club to be designated as a park. A six acre parcel of ground, Carr Park is a popular playground and recreational facility for children, residents and visitors. In addition to various children's playground equipment, it features permanent grills, benches, picnic tables, and an over-hang shelter housing additional picnic tables. The park has a basketball court, two volleyball courts, two tennis courts and a ball diamond. It is used as one of the park sites in the Bedford Community Education Summer's Park Program.

Samaria Park

Samaria Park is a nice neighborhood park is located in downtown Samaria. The park yields 13 acres, including a woodland trail, picnic and playground areas, a small softball diamond, and a community building. The building is available for clubs and organizations to rent the facility for meeting, family reunions, showers and parties. A picnic shelter is available, and in past years, many families and groups have utilized this area for gatherings. Together with the shelter, a new well-equipped playground and ball diamond, Samaria Park is the ideal place for a family outing.
